The dean of the University of Arizona College of Law reportedly told Lorna that “law school is no place for a woman.” Yet Lorna Lockwood became the second woman to attend an Arizona law school, the only woman in her law school class, the president of the student bar association and the first woman to graduate from law school in Arizona. Ultimately, she became the first woman Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, following in the footsteps of her father, the Honorable Alfred C Lockwood, who at one time taught at the Cave Creek School. This program highlights one of Arizona’s most amazing notable women.
