Cave Creek Museum Presents: “A Dozen Ways of Dying in the Desert” with Len Marcisz – Rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, scorpions, mountain lions, heat stroke, hypothermia and bees! Oh my! What a way to go. There are so many unusual ways in which humans end up ten toes in the air in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. This presentation introduces us to our prickly, spiny, thorny and horny (toad) neighbors in our desert community. The goal of the discussion is to tell the stories of the often-misunderstood flora and fauna we live among to help you feel at home in our Sonoran Desert.
Presenter Len Marcisz is former President & Chairman of the Board of the Arizona Historical Society. He is a Legacy Steward for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and a contributing author of the Field Guide and Cultural Guide to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Len’s writings have appeared in several local periodicals and referenced in archaeological and historical studies. He most recently designed the new Brown Ranch interpretive trail in the Preserve.
