Museum Tours

Take a step back in time and discover what life was like in the foothills area far north of Phoenix.  Explore what life was like for the first inhabitants, the Hohokam, and why more recently the area was a draw for the military, miners, cattlemen and sheepherders.  Explore our historic buildings on-site along with the working blacksmith shop and the only operational ten-stamp mill in Arizona.

Tours generally last from 2 to 2 ½ hours.  Parking is provided in the church parking lot next to the museum.

Private Group Tours

Docent-guided group tours are available to groups of 10 or more with advance notice of at least 3 weeks.  Please call 480-488-2764 to arrange.

School Tours

A special highlight for the students is learning how to pan for gold and taking home the treasures they discover!

Tours generally last from 2 to 2 ½ hours, depending on arrival times. The museum opens at 9:00 a.m. for school tours. Tours are offered Monday through Thursday, except on holiday closures, and are free for both students and chaperones. Docents will be available to guide each group. We ask that the total group is limited to 50 students and no more than 5 chaperones.

Many school groups choose to have lunch at one of several parks in the area after leaving the museum as the museum does not have picnic facilities. Students are also advised to bring a water bottle as we do not have public water fountains.

To schedule a field trip for your class, home school group, or youth group, please fill out the form below at least one month before your preferred visit.

For additional questions, groups with special requests or larger than 50, please email us at education@cavecreekmuseum.com.
