Do you know about about the rich heritage of Tonto National Forest that reaches thousands of years into the past? Originally home to several prehistoric Indian groups, this vast area was colonized over a thousand years ago!
Do you know the base of Papago Buttes had a sprawling German prisoner-of-war camp? Through dozens of photos and in the words of the P.O.W.s, the American soldiers who guarded them, and Phoenix citizens who lived nearby, spend time within the razor-wired confines of what was one of Arizona’s largest prison camps.
Presenter Kraig Nelson shares tales from Cave Creek's wild and woolly history, when cattle and sheep reigned supreme, cowboys ruled the desert and delves in the dark, and murderous past of one of the Town's Founding Fathers.

Award-winning author Roger Naylor joins Cave Creek Museum to share facts and commentary from his newest book, “Awesome Arizona: 200 Amazing Facts about the Grand Canyon State”. Our May family event is to honor our mothers and grandmothers! Please bring your children and join us for an old-fashioned English Tea at the museum in honor of Mothers’ Day! We will be serving tea and lemonade, and each child will also have an opportunity to design a small terracotta pot and choose their own succulent plant to pot as a take home gift for Mom!
