  • Kiwanis’ Family Fun Days: Meet a Miner Day

    Immerse yourself in a day in the life of a miner, blacksmith and other characters from Cave Creek's 1800'2 gold mining era. Try your hand at gold panning, experience what children in a gold camp did for fun. Costumed interpreters will guide your family through the historic mining campus and tell stories of the gold-fueled days of the American West. Registration is limited and required. This event is FREE thanks to the generous funding of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree.

  • Kiwanis’ Preschool Pioneers: There Was a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea

    This program is for children ages 3-5; however, all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.  "There Was a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea" -- Our coyote swallows increasingly larger desert animals, including a cactus, western hat and more in this humorous rhyming tale. We will walk the museum to find some of them and explore them. This event is FREE thanks to the financial support of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.  "Wonkey Donkey" Follow this donkey and ours throughout the entire museum and see who is the most spunky, hanky-panky, cranky, stinky, dinky, lanky, honky tonky, winky wonkey donkey!     Meet Roxanne Eklund, a Cave Creek felt sculptor who uses Churro sheep wool that's sourced from the Indigenous Navajo shepherds to create sculptures inspired by their culture. Try your hand at her spinning wheel and other “tools of the trade”. This event is open to visitors of all age groups.
