DESCRIPTION:This exclusive Cave Creek Museum adventure is a “must”! \nCave Creek Museum has partnered with Rackensack Canyon Tours to bring Arizona’s one and only total gold mining experience to life.  After seeing the interactive\, action-packed Arizona Gold Mining Experience (AZGME)\, Gold Fever lovers break for lunch and return to Cave Creek Museum to leave promptly at 1:00pm for the 3-hour gold mine tour in a unique jeep vehicle that takes you into the Continental Mountains and to the mine. The tour ascends to the Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone with absolutely breathtaking views up to a 4\,500-foot elevation. \nYour full-day immersible history of mining and the Cave Creek area consists of you attending the interactive Arizona Gold Mining Experience in the morning and the Gold Fever Adventure in the afternoon.  (These are purchased separately.) \nThe short ride to the summit can be a bit dusty and bouncy\, but is exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along the trail.  You can enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on the patio while taking in the jaw-dropping vistas. \nProceed then to the gold mine where you are rewarded with a historic tableau of 1800’s artifacts excavated from the Ft. Worth Gold Mine site. SUMMARY:The Arizona Gold Mining Experience™
DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. Watch as the tramway carries ore to be pulverized! \nThen onto the Blacksmith Shop for a demonstration of skill that was highly valued in a time where parts and tools had to be fabricated on site. Next be sure to try your luck at our Gold-panning station\, where docents will show you how to pan for ore and minerals just like the old prospectors did. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. Watch as the tramway carries ore to be pulverized! \nThen onto the Blacksmith Shop for a demonstration of skill that was highly valued in a time where parts and tools had to be fabricated on site. DESCRIPTION:This exclusive Cave Creek Museum adventure is a “must”! \nCave Creek Museum has partnered with Rackensack Canyon Tours to bring Arizona’s one and only total gold mining experience to life.  After seeing the interactive\, action-packed Arizona Gold Mining Experience (AZGME)\, Gold Fever lovers break for lunch and return to Cave Creek Museum to leave promptly at 1:00pm for the 3-hour gold mine tour in a unique jeep vehicle that takes you into the Continental Mountains and to the mine. The tour ascends to the Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone with absolutely breathtaking views up to a 4\,500-foot elevation. \nYour full-day immersible history of mining and the Cave Creek area consists of you attending the interactive Arizona Gold Mining Experience in the morning and the Gold Fever Adventure in the afternoon.  (These are purchased separately.) \nThe short ride to the summit can be a bit dusty and bouncy\, but is exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along the trail.  You can enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on the patio while taking in the jaw-dropping vistas. \nProceed then to the gold mine where you are rewarded with a historic tableau of 1800’s artifacts excavated from the Ft. SUMMARY:Cave Creek Museum Presents: "Arizona’s World War II Airfields” with Steve Hoza
DESCRIPTION:Arizona is a surprising place with its secrets sometimes in plain view.  Historian Steve Hoza spent more than a year flying over the entire state photographing and documenting more than 50 airfields that were used during WWII for pilot\, bombardier and gunnery training.  Cadets from the USA\, Great Britain and China prepared for battle on some of the country’s largest training fields located in Arizona.  Photos taken during and after the war\, including historical artifacts\, will be presented. \nSteve Hoza is a native Phoenician who has worked in the museum field his entire career.  He is a recognized authority on the history of World War II in Arizona.  Steve has written on the German POWs held in Arizona and the military training airfields during the war.  He is the archivist/historian at his alma mater\, Bourgade High School\, in Phoenix\, and runs the official website of the Wallace and Ladmo Show. \nAdmission is $10\, including an all-day Museum pass.  (No discounts or Culture Passes will be honored.)  FREE for members; advance reservations are required. \nxProduct()

DESCRIPTION:Cave Creek Museum Presents: “A Dozen Ways of Dying in the Desert” with featured speaker Len Marcisz.  “Rattlesnakes\, Gila monsters\, scorpions\, mountain lions\, heat stroke\, hypothermia and bees! Oh my! What a way to go. There are so many unusual ways in which humans end up ten toes in the air in the middle of the Sonoran Desert” says Len.  This presentation introduces us to our prickly\, spiny\, thorny and horny (toad) neighbors in our desert community. The goal of the discussion is to tell the stories of the often-misunderstood flora and fauna we live among to help you feel at home in our Sonoran Desert. \nAppointed by the Governor\, Len Marcisz served on the board of directors of the Arizona Historical Society\, a State of Arizona trustee agency that oversees several museums and historic properties across the state. He served from 2011 through 2015\, and again during 2018 through 2019\, including service as the board chairman and president. SUMMARY:Cave Creek Museum Presents: "Lady Law: The Extraordinary Lorna Lockwood” with Kraig Nelson
DESCRIPTION:The dean of the University of Arizona College of Law reportedly told Lorna that “law school is no place for a woman.”  Yet Lorna Lockwood became the second woman to attend an Arizona law school\, the only woman in her law school class\, the president of the student bar association and the first woman to graduate from law school in Arizona.  Ultimately\, she became the first woman Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court\, following in the footsteps of her father\, the Honorable Alfred C Lockwood\, who at one time taught at the Cave Creek School.  This program highlights one of Arizona’s most amazing notable women. \nPresenter Kraig Nelson began as a docent at the Cave Creek Museum in 2008\, became a regular columnist for the Museum’s newsletter in 2011 and the Museum Board elected him the Museum’s official historian in 2016.  Kraig also co-authored the Museum’s 2013 book\, “Images of America-Cave Creek and Carefree”. DESCRIPTION:This exclusive Cave Creek Museum adventure is a “must” for everyone! \nCave Creek Museum has partnered with Rackensack Canyon Tours to bring Arizona’s first and only total gold mining experience to life.  After seeing the interactive\, action-packed Arizona Gold Mining Experience (AZGME)\, Gold Fever lovers break for lunch and return to Cave Creek Museum to leave promptly at 1:00pm for the 3-hour gold mine tour in a unique 10-passenger vehicle that takes you into the Continental Mountains and to the mine. The tour ascends to the Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone with absolutely breathtaking views up to a 4\,500-foot elevation. \nYour full-day immersible history of mining and the Cave Creek area consists of you attending the interactive Arizona Gold Mining Experience in the morning and the Gold Fever Adventure in the afternoon.  (These are purchased separately.) \nThe short ride to the summit can be a bit dusty and bouncy\, but is exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along the trail.  You can enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on the patio while taking in the jaw-dropping vistas. \nProceed then to the gold mine where you are rewarded with a historic tableau of 1800’s artifacts excavated from the Ft. Worth Gold Mine site.
