SUMMARY:The Arizona Gold Mining Experience™
DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. Watch as the tramway carries ore to be pulverized! \nThen onto the Blacksmith Shop for a demonstration of skill that was highly valued in a time where parts and tools had to be fabricated on site. Next be sure to try your luck at our Gold-panning station\, where docents will show you how to pan for ore and minerals just like the old prospectors did. DESCRIPTION:Cave Creek Museum’s most precious asset is the rough-hewn Ten Stamp Mill.  The Golden Reef Mine stamp mill plus how the museum acquired and relocated it from Continental Mountain is an epic and roaring story.  Cave Creek’s resident historian and local storyteller\, Kraig Nelson\, will reveal the captivating and engaging narrative behind the founding of Cave Creek\, the road and town\, plus the role our stamp mill played in this fascinating history. \nPresenter Kraig Nelson began as a docent at the Cave Creek Museum in 2008\, became a regular columnist for the Museum’s newsletter in 2011 and the Museum Board elected him the Museum’s official historian in 2016.  Kraig also co-authored the Museum’s 2013 book\, “Images of America-Cave Creek and Carefree”. Kraig is a regular columnist for “A Peak at the Peak” and North Valley Magazine.  He has been published in many other periodicals\, including True West. \nAdmission is $10\, including an all-day Museum pass.  (No discounts or Culture Passes will be honored.)  FREE for members; advance reservations are required.

SUMMARY:The Arizona Gold Mining Experience™
DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. Watch as the tramway carries ore to be pulverized! \nThen onto the Blacksmith Shop for a demonstration of skill that was highly valued in a time where parts and tools had to be fabricated on site. DESCRIPTION:This exclusive Cave Creek Museum adventure is a “must”! \nCave Creek Museum has partnered with Rackensack Canyon Tours to bring Arizona’s one and only total gold mining experience to life.  After seeing the interactive\, action-packed Arizona Gold Mining Experience (AZGME)\, Gold Fever lovers break for lunch and return to Cave Creek Museum to leave promptly at 1:00pm for the 3-hour gold mine tour in a unique jeep vehicle that takes you into the Continental Mountains and to the mine. The tour ascends to the Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone with absolutely breathtaking views up to a 4\,500-foot elevation. \nYour full-day immersible history of mining and the Cave Creek area consists of you attending the interactive Arizona Gold Mining Experience in the morning and the Gold Fever Adventure in the afternoon.  (These are purchased separately.) \nThe short ride to the summit can be a bit dusty and bouncy\, but is exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along the trail.  You can enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on the patio while taking in the jaw-dropping vistas. \nProceed then to the gold mine where you are rewarded with a historic tableau of 1800’s artifacts excavated from the Ft. SUMMARY:Cave Creek Museum Presents: "Arizona’s World War II Airfields” with Steve Hoza
DESCRIPTION:Arizona is a surprising place with its secrets sometimes in plain view.  Historian Steve Hoza spent more than a year flying over the entire state photographing and documenting more than 50 airfields that were used during WWII for pilot\, bombardier and gunnery training.  Cadets from the USA\, Great Britain and China prepared for battle on some of the country’s largest training fields located in Arizona.  Photos taken during and after the war\, including historical artifacts\, will be presented. \nSteve Hoza is a native Phoenician who has worked in the museum field his entire career.  He is a recognized authority on the history of World War II in Arizona.  Steve has written on the German POWs held in Arizona and the military training airfields during the war.  He is the archivist/historian at his alma mater\, Bourgade High School\, in Phoenix\, and runs the official website of the Wallace and Ladmo Show. \nAdmission is $10\, including an all-day Museum pass.  (No discounts or Culture Passes will be honored.)  FREE for members; advance reservations are required. \nxProduct()

DESCRIPTION:The desert is an unforgiving place with extreme temperatures\, limited water sources\, and potential wildlife encounters. Trails are sometimes not well-marked and often follow natural contours of the landscape. You could be navigating sections of trails that are ill-defined and cell service is hard to come by\, so you’ll need to know how to navigate canyons\, washes and boulders.  What should you carry?  When should you go?  How do you get help?  For newcomers to the Desert Foothills\, this is an invaluable presentation — a 101 on living and surviving in our desert home. DESCRIPTION:Making their haunted reappearance is our local paranormal investigation / ghost hunting team has been featured on The Travel Channel’s Destination Fear and Ghost Adventures – AZ Ghost Adventures\, for a night historical haunts and paranormal investigation. \nOur evening includes an introduction on the highly sensitive equipment used during professional paranormal investigations\, and guests will play an active role during the conjuring proceedings. \nThe paranormal investigation tracks both inside the museum\, the outdoor exhibits (including the mining campus) and Cave Creek’s last standing historical Tubercular cabin. \nThis event is always a spooky sell-out.  Register early.  Limited to 26 guests.  No guests under 13 years of age\, please. \n\nAdmission is $45.
