DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. \nGet ready to travel back in Time!\nJoin our crusty\, but not always trusty\, ol’ local miner El Monty Jackson as he leads guests through Cave Creek Museum’s signature Arizona Gold Mining Experience. Step back in time and witness the sights\, sounds and thrills of the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill\, just five miles from its original history setting. The guided tour includes the thundering mill at work\, a peak into the workings of a mineshaft\, a master blacksmith at work\, and a hands-on gold panning station. An “Only in Arizona” experience! \nNote: this program is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long\, and largely takes place in the Outside Exhibit Area. It is not ADA compliant. Footing is uneven and slightly hilly in places. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sunscreen! \n**Due to the popularity of The AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™\, tickets must be pre-purchased.  No Membership Discounts. DESCRIPTION:Unplug and join us for the 14th annual Desert Discovery Day — a day of digital detox\, fresh air\, fun\, and adventure for everyone! \nPresented by the Desert Foothills Land Trust\, this is a fun-filled day of adventure and educational activities in a natural desert setting.  Discover the Sonoran Desert\, learn about all its dwellers\, past and present\, and interact with native wildlife. \nHeld at the Jewel of the Creek Preserve — click here for map & directions.
