SUMMARY:The Arizona Gold Mining Experience™
DESCRIPTION:Museum opens at 9:00 am for event check-in; the ARIZONA GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ begins at 10:00 am. \nThe Cave Creek Museum’s AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™ is unique with its display of the complete hard rock ore extraction process\, with the mine shaft\, tramway\, ore carts\, crushing and extraction\, that are always on display\, but operated only during these events. The highlight is Arizona’s only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. The ten 1\,000-lb stamps slam down in synchronized motion to pound the ore removed from the mine into a fine gravel. The stamp mill was brought from its former location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain to where it sits today. This is the only operational mining stamp mill in Arizona today that sits only 5 miles from its original site on the mountain. \nThe program begins with a lively recounting of Cave Creek Mining District’s heyday\, followed by a visit to the arrastre\, a primitive apparatus that pulverized ore with the power of beast or man. Hold onto your hats when the old mine blows its top! Then onto the Golden Reef Stamp Mill and Tramway\, where our highly trained and dedicated “Dream Team” fires up the engines of the stamp mill and once again the mountainsides echo with the crashing beat of the mechanical crusher. Watch as the tramway carries ore to be pulverized! \nThen onto the Blacksmith Shop for a demonstration of skill that was highly valued in a time where parts and tools had to be fabricated on site. Next be sure to try your luck at our Gold-panning station\, where docents will show you how to pan for ore and minerals just like the old prospectors did. Maybe you’ll strike gold! \nRemember\, your admission ($20 for guests 13 yrs and up\, children 12 yrs and under are free**) is also good for a leisurely tour of the Museum’s Historical and Archaeology collections and be sure to visit our other Outdoor Exhibits: the collection of many other articles from Cave Creek’s mining and agricultural past\, the Historic First Church\, and our TB Cabin\, which is on the National Register of Historic Places as the only known existing tubercular cabin from that era. \nGet ready to travel back in Time!\nNote: this program is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long and largely takes place in the Outside Exhibit Area. It is not ADA compliant. Footing is uneven and slightly hilly in places. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sunscreen! \n**Due to the popularity of The AZ GOLD MINING EXPERIENCE™\, tickets must be pre-purchased.  No Membership Discounts. Culture Passes will not be accepted for this event.  Tickets are non-refundable\, but may be used for an Arizona Gold Mining Experience 90 days from purchased date by calling Staff at 480-488-2764.  Refunds will only be issued for cancellations due to inclement weather and circumstances beyond our control. \nxProduct()Tickets are non-refundable\, but may be used for an Arizona Gold Mining Experience 90 days from purchased date by calling Staff at 480-488-2764.  Refunds will only be issued for cancellations due to inclement weather and circumstances beyond our control. \n Your email confirmation receipt is your ticket.

SUMMARY:Gold Fever Jeep Adventure
DESCRIPTION:This exclusive Cave Creek Museum adventure is a “must”! \nCave Creek Museum has partnered with Rackensack Canyon Tours to bring Arizona’s one and only total gold mining experience to life.  After seeing the interactive\, action-packed Arizona Gold Mining Experience (AZGME)\, Gold Fever lovers break for lunch and return to Cave Creek Museum to leave promptly at 1:00pm for the 3-hour gold mine tour in a unique jeep vehicle that takes you into the Continental Mountains and to the mine. The tour ascends to the Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone with absolutely breathtaking views up to a 4\,500-foot elevation. \nYour full-day immersible history of mining and the Cave Creek area consists of you attending the interactive Arizona Gold Mining Experience in the morning and the Gold Fever Adventure in the afternoon.  (These are purchased separately.) \nThe short ride to the summit can be a bit dusty and bouncy\, but is exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along the trail.  You can enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on the patio while taking in the jaw-dropping vistas. \nProceed then to the gold mine where you are rewarded with a historic tableau of 1800’s artifacts excavated from the Ft. Worth Gold Mine site. This mine was part of the Historic Rackensack Mines\, which were instrumental in the founding of Cave Creek.  You will interact with the knowledgeable guide and follow the same vein of gold that Old Rackensack (a real person) chased in 1880. \nThis adventure tour is the perfect way to learn about Arizona’s fascinating gold mining history while finding the “Gold Fever” within yourself. \nReservations are required in advance. No cancellations under 60 days. The Gold Fever Adventure is limited to 9 adult guests.  Culture passes and discounts are not accepted for this event.  No passengers under 13 years of age. \nNote:  This adventure is approximately 3 hours. It is not ADA compliant. Footing is uneven and slightly hilly in places. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sunscreen! \nxProduct()\n\n\nEcwid.init();\nGold Fever Adventure is an “once-a-month” donation from our dear friends and supporters at Rackensack Canyon Tours.  We are so happy that every month this tour sells out!  GREAT NEWS … If Gold Fever Adventure (benefiting the Cave Creek Museum) is sold out or the date we are advertising doesn’t work for you—you can still enjoy this thrilling Jeep tour to the top of Continental Mountain and deep into the depths of Rackensack Mine.  Just click on the button to the right to visit Rackensack Canyon Tours to find an available date.  (They have helicopter tours as well!) \nThank you for supporting these wonderful folks who support the Cave Creek Museum! \nVisit Rackensack Canyon Tours

SUMMARY:Porch Party: Where Melodies Spark Memories & Objects Tell Stories
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate community\, local history\, artisan makers and family fun at this FREE\, museum-wide opening season event\, sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Carefree! \nFrom our newly renovated front porch entrance and Veterans Memory Garden to the old gazebo\, there are memories to uncover and stories to tell about our region’s rich heritage. \nNanny Nikki’s Imagination Station: Drop by the museum’s History Wing to meet Nanny Nikki! You’ll find her set up right by the massive model of Black Mountain\, surrounded by exhibits honoring the region’s history-makers: miners\, military\, ranchers\, “lungers\,” and early tourists. \nBlacksmithing: Head outside to the Blacksmith Shed! Join our community partner\, Desert Rat Forge\, and resident artisan “Dief” for live demonstrations and ongoing “branding” activities. \nWWI “Silks” Textile Postcards: Step inside the historic Cave Creek Church—the exact spot where the museum first opened its doors in April 1970. Collector Sue Palmer will showcase her rare\, personal collection of fabric postcards made in France during\nWorld War I as a way to keep our soldiers connected to their families. \nAt The Old Gazebo: During the 1970s\, small-town bandstands sparked a nostalgic revival as focal points for identity and gathering. This event honors that beautiful tradition\, inviting you to slow down\, gather together\, and celebrate the enduring spirit of the Cave Creek Mining District. Kick back\, enjoy live musical interludes and help us fill our “Memory Jar!” Share your favorite recollections of our “Old Gazebo” Bandshell\, which stood proudly at Neary’s Village Square (Cave Creek Rd and Hidden Valley Drive) before moving to the museum grounds in 1991. \nThis FREE event is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Carefree! \n\nxProduct()
